There is a number of ways to collect and open a Chest in Puzzle Quest 3
The most common way to be awarded a chest is after completing some battles. Among your rewards will be a chest and the following prompt, where you can choose to either;
- Open the chest with the corresponding Key
- Spend Gems to open
- Salvage the Chest in exchange for Gold
- Store For Later.
- Send a Minion to open it

If you have the space free and you select Store For Later, you can then go back to your Hero tab to view them and the options above will still be available to you.
There are 5 different Chests & Keys in Puzzle Quest 3;
- Wooden
- Iron
- Gold
- Ruby
- Diamond
Keys
Similar to Chests, these are most commonly awarded for completing Battles.
Keys can also be awarded as Daily offers, purchased in the shop in Daily Deals, Key Bundles, or trading Honor under the Rewards Tab in the Shop. Should you ever be in short supply.
There are 5 different Keys to collect, that correspond to their matching Chests;
Left to right: Wooden Key, Iron Key, Gold Key, Ruby Key & Diamond Key
Chest Vault
Once you are awarded a Chest if you do not have the means to open it instantly you can store it in your Vault!
Starting with 3 Chest slots, extra slots can be unlocked by purchasing the VIP Pass as well as upgrading the rarity of the Guard Follower.
If your Vault is full of Chests and you are rewarded another, you will need to open or Salvage one of your stored chests.
Salvaging a chest will give you Gold in exchange for Salvaging a chest.
