Autoplay is a feature that allows the AI to take over battling your opponents for the duration of the battle. At any point, the player can either turn off Autoplay, or even just start making moves and continue the battle themselves.
If the player makes a move while Autoplay is enabled, the Autoplay will pause for an extended period of time, and if the player doesn’t make a move, the AI will go back to playing the game. Keep an eye out on the Autoplay toggle, as the background counts down to show how long before the AI will start playing again.
How does Autoplay work?
The AI for Autoplay is meant to be a complementary feature that players can enable if things start getting a bit easy. The AI is targeted to perform actions similar to the average player, who understands the basics of how to play the game and how to cast spells, but doesn’t always know the best time to cast a spell, or how to most effectively target to get the most out of it.
In this regard, it should play similarly to a beginner to intermediate player, where it will make on average between 2 to 4 moves per turn. When there are Spells, or Gems on the board that can be activated, the AI will usually prefer to cast the spell or activate the gem ability, but that doesn’t guarantee that it will take those actions.
The AI also prefers to make gem matches that match either the color of the player's spells, big gems, or special gems, but it may also take less optimal moves, like a player may miss those moves.
The AI does also like to make larger gem matches to build up big gems, but please be aware that it won’t always go for advanced maneuvers like attempting a stun.
Why use Autoplay?
Autoplay is a feature designed to help in those situations in a battle where winning is almost a sure thing! Instead of playing out the rest of the battle, let the Autoplay battle for you, while you can focus on other things, like planning the next Kingdom Defense with your Kingdom, or hanging out in Global Chat.
Autoplay gives you the chance to keep progressing while you aren’t fully focused on the game. If you notice the battle is coming down to the wire, or see something that you want the AI to do, take over and start playing immediately, and show the AI who’s boss and the one who can come up with the best strategies.
When to NOT use Autoplay
There are some situations where Autoplay is Disabled:
- PvP: It’s called Player vs Player for a reason. To get to the top of the PvP Leaderboards, and give everyone a fair fight, Autoplay cannot be enabled in PvP battles.
- Co-Op: When playing with your comrades, it is ideal to do your best and work as a team. We know you can do better than Autoplay, so be sure to work together to defeat the harder battles together!
Outside of those game modes, there are times when we don’t recommend enabling the Autoplay feature, but it is still available just in case:
- Hard Battles: The AI can only do so much against difficult opponents, so feel free to tag in and take on these tough opponents yourself… We know you can do it!
- Limited Game Modes: Playing a battle which you can only do a limited amount of times per event/day? We think you should take on the fight and do your best.
Things you should know about Autoplay
- Autoplay will never revive itself: Don’t worry, your gems are safe! The Autoplay will wait for you to either revive or accept defeat, so keep an eye out just in case the AI has not lived up to your expectations for this fight.
- Altar Menu: (new default is Enabled) - When Enabled, the Autoplay will now automatically pick an Altar in Dungeons, and continue the battle without any player interaction. When Disabled, the Autoplay will wait until an Altar is selected.
- Potions Menu: (default is Disabled) - When Enabled, the Autoplay will skip the Potion Menu without applying any Potions to your hero, and continue the battle without any player interaction. When Disabled, the Autoplay will now wait for the player to pick what potions they want to use, and once confirmed, the Autoplay will continue battling.
These settings can be adjusted in Settings > General > scroll down to Autoplay
